Questions About Booking A Corporate Event
Is there a designated person I can speak with regarding the team building event planning?
Yes, please fill out this contact form with your company’s name, group size and preferred event date. One of our customer service representatives will be in touch.
What is the maximum capacity for group events at your venue?
We can accommodate events that are up to 80 people. For team building activities, participants are paired in twos to foster collaboration and communication.
Can we arrange catering for our event? What are the available options?
Event planners are encouraged to use the catering company we partner with to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
A prorated hourly rate ($100/hour) will be applied for any delays caused by self-arranged catering.
Do you require a deposit to reserve a time slot?
Yes, for events with 16 or more participants, we require a 50% deposit of the total payment at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due no later than one week prior to the event date.
For events with fewer than 16 participants, full payment is required at the time of booking.
Questions About Booking Classes
Unsure exactly how many people are in your group?
Please schedule on the lower limit of expected attendance when booking a private session: We recommend registering 80% of your expected headcount. We’re super flexible about increasing the number of participants (we’ll charge the difference after your experience), but it’s troublesome when you overestimate! You’re entitled to a refund for a maximum of 3 ‘no-shows’ regardless of group size.
Can people in our group make different items?
No. A private group must select one curriculum (no mix and matching).
Do you have an age requirement for kids to attend the forging classes?
Our classes are open to ages 6 and above, although we encourage parents to use their discretion. Based on our experience, most children aged 11 or 12 can complete the project with minimal assistance. For children aged 15 and younger, a reservation must include an accompanying adult.
Do you offer military discounts?
We offer a 10% discount to customers who are:
- Active military
- Retired military
- Veterans with a service-connected disability
To receive the military discount, eligible customers must present proper identification. Accepted forms of ID include:
- Military identification card
- State-issued identification indicating veteran status
- Form DD 214
Please note, the discount must be applied by our staff. To complete your booking with the discount, kindly email, call, or text us for assistance.
What is the maximum number of attendees covered by the minimum charge for a private booking?
The minimum charge for a private booking covers up to 5 participants. Any additional participants will be charged at the individual rate for the booked class.
Can I watch without participating?
You’re welcome to stay and watch if you’re not participating.
Do you offer gift cards?
Yes, we do! Our gift cards never expire!
Please check out the Gift Cards page for details.
Why does the gift card I purchased show a booking date of today?
This is due to our booking system limitations. The booking date is the purchase date. The gift certificate recipient will need to call or email us to schedule their class for a date of their choice.
How to book a class with the gift certificate I received?
Please go through the normal booking process and apply your gift certificate at the very end of the process, in the check-out page. Instead of paying by credit card, click the Gift Certificate button and copy-paste your redemption code in the pop-up window.
Yes, you can apply multiple certificates for one booking.
Questions About the Classes
How long are the classes?
All experiences are 3 hours in duration.
Do I need to have prior experience?
No experience required! The vast majority of our students have never held a hammer, and they all do great. Our experiences are accessible to all ages, genders, backgrounds, physicality, and interests. Think you’re too weak or uncoordinated for our classes? You’re mistaken. Give us the opportunity to surprise you.
Can I share my project with someone else?
Any two people may register for one reservation/seat if they’d like to make a single item together.
Is it safe for pregnant women to participate in blacksmithing classes?
100% safe. We do not use any harsh chemicals. We’ve had many pregnant students (some at nearly full term) and there have been zero issues. We are happy to provide a chair at the station in case of any needed breaks during the activity.
Should I bring any special gear/equipment?
No. All necessary safety gear is provided at the shop.
What should I wear blacksmithing?
- CLOSED TOED SHOES (sneakers are fine but absolutely no sandals, flipflops, high heels, etc.)
- Cotton pants (jeans) are preferred but shorts or leggings are acceptable.
- Short OR long sleeve cotton tee-shirts recommended.
- Please avoid synthetics. Any sparks will cause synthetics to melt and stick to your skin. Thin all-natural fabrics can still alight in extreme circumstances. Wear thick 100% all-natural materials, like cotton, wool, or leather
Can I customize my experience?
We can try to customize an experience if you have particular time/budget/interest constraints. Please contact us and provide details.
How accessible are you for disabilities?
Accessible for a wide range of physical disabilities/injuries/sickness: Please inquire if you have concerns and please provide a notice of special needs upon registration.
What is the temperature like at the forge and during the forging class?
The temperature at the forge can vary depending on the season and weather conditions. In general, the forging area can be quite warm due to the heat from the forges. During the colder months, the warmth can be comfortable, but it is still recommended to dress in layers that you can remove as needed. In warmer months, it can get hot, so wearing breathable clothing and staying hydrated is essential.
During the forging class, the heat from the forges can make the area noticeably warmer than the outside temperature. We advise participants to wear comfortable, non-flammable clothing, such as cotton, and closed-toe shoes. Safety gear will be provided to ensure you stay protected.
If you have specific concerns about the temperature or what to wear, please reach out by email or text, we’d be happy to provide more details.
Is the mild steel used for the chopsticks or BBQ forks food safe?
Yes, the mild steel we use is food safe for the utensils you forge, such as chopsticks or BBQ forks. Mild steel is commonly used in cookware and utensils because it does not contain toxic coatings or harmful substances. However, it’s important to clean and dry your forged items thoroughly after use to prevent rusting, as mild steel is not stainless. You can also apply a food-grade oil to protect the surface and maintain its finish over time.
Do you offer BSA Metalwork Merit Badge class?
Yes! Please check out this page on our website for details.

Post-Class Questions
Do you sell merchandise?
How do I get the forged item home? Is it allowed on a plane?
The only item you may fly with as carry on is the bottle opener. All other items must either be placed in checked luggage or mailed. We’re happy to ship your item(s) for you: $10/box; each box can fit at least 10 items; expect ~5 days from class date to delivery.
How to care for your item?
- It’s best never to dishwash your item since it can damage from bouncing around. Furthermore the item may rust in the dishwasher.
- When you get home wash your item with warm, soapy water.
- Dry your item immediately and thoroughly, otherwise rusting will occur rapidly.
- After drying, coat your item with a thin layer of coconut oil (using a paper towel or tissue) to prevent rusting. Any food-safe oil will do, though coconut oil is great because it’s cheap, available, food-safe, delicious, and doesn’t easily go rancid.
- If rusting does occur, simply scrub the affected area using steel wool, a metal brush, sandpaper, or a rough bristle pad. Wash, dry, and coat with oil.
- To sharpen, it’s best to use a wet stone. You can find good options on Amazon for less than $20!
- Alternatively, you may email us to schedule a time for a free cleaning
Do you have Open Shop?
Yes, we offer open shop hours to customers who have attended at least one of our classes. Please sign up open shop here.
